. Large ball (or skein) size 10 cotton crochet thread (I'm using a 400 yard skein of DMC Baroque in White); size 6 (1.8mm) steel crochet hook (I'm using a Boye hook) OR Size Needed for Gauge. . Gauge: RNDS 1 & 2 = about 1½" across . Finished Size: (unknown at this time) will be measured across at widest points after washing and blocking . For Part One we will be using the following Special Stitches: Beginning Treble Crochet Cluster (beg trcl) - ch 3, tr in same st or sp Treble Crochet Cluster (trcl) - holding last loops of sts on hook, work 2 tr in st or sp indicated, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook . . Note: Doily may "ruffle" until washed and blocked. This part of the pattern shouldn't "ruffle", but it may do so as we go along. We'll see!! :o) . . Begin with ch 7, join with sl st in first ch to form ring. . RND 1: ch 3 (counts as first dc), 15 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (16 dc) . RND 2: beg trcl, ch 2, (trcl in next st, ch 2) around, join with sl st in top of beg trcl. (16 trcl, 16 ch-2 sps) . RND 3: ch 6 (counts as first dc and 3 ch), (dc in next trcl, ch 3) around, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-6. (16 dc, 16 ch-3 sps) . RND 4: ch 1, sc in same st as joining, *(sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch-3 sp, sc in next dc, (sc, ch 5, sc) in next ch-3 sp**, sc in next dc*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in top of first sc. (48 sc, 8 ch-3 lps, 8 ch-5 lps) . RND 5: sl st in next sc and into ch-3 lp, beg trcl, (ch 2, trcl, ch 2) in same lp, *(dc, ch 2) 2 times in center ch of next ch-5 lp**, (trcl, ch 2) 2 times in next ch-3 lp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in top of beg trcl. (16 trcl, 16 dc, 32 ch-2 sps) . RND 6: sl st into ch-2 sp, ch 4 (counts as first tr), *(3 tr in next ch-2 sp, tr in next dc) 2 times, 3 tr in next ch-2 sp**, tr in next ch-2 sp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in top of beg ch-4. (96 tr) . RND 7: beg trcl, *ch 2, sk next tr, trcl in next tr, ch 1, sk next 2 tr, (tr, ch 4, tr) in next tr, ch 1, sk next 2 tr, trcl in next tr, ch 2, (sk next tr, trcl in next tr)** 2 times*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in top of beg trcl. (32 trcl, 16 tr, 16 ch-2 sps, 8 ch-4 sps) . RND 8: sl st into ch-2 sp, (ch 1, sc) in same sp, *ch 3, sk next ch-1 sp and next tr, 8 tr in next ch-4 sp, ch 3, sk next ch-1 sp and next trcl, sc in next ch-2 sp**, ch 4, sk next 2 trcl, sc in next ch-2 sp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, ch 1, dc in top of first sc to join and form last loop.
