Davis Materials for December Doily: Size 10 cotton crochet thread - Approx 62 yds Natural, approx 115 yds Burgundy & approx 48 yds Forest Green (or desired colors); size 6 (1.8 mm) steel crochet hook (I used a Boye hook) OR Size Needed for Gauge (see Center #2 pattern for Gauge) . Finished Size: About 19½" across at widest points when washed and blocked . Special Stitches for this Doily: In addition to Special Stitches for Center Double Treble Crochet (dtr) - yo 3 times, insert hook in st indicated, draw loop through, (yo, draw through 2 loops on hook) 4 times Beginning Shell (beg shl) - sl st in each of next 2 dc and into ch-3 sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp Shell (shl) - (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in ch sp indicated Shell in Shell (shl in shl) - work Shell in ch-3 sp of next Shell Beginning Shell Increase (beg shl inc) - sl st in each of next 2 dc and in first 2 chs of ch-3 sp, (ch 3, dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in same sp {this shl inc will be completed at the end of the Rnd} Shell Increase (shl inc) - 2 dc in ch-3 sp of next Shell, (ch 3, 2 dc) 2 times in same sp Double Crochet Decrease (dc dec) - holding last loops of sts on hook, dc in same ch sp as last dc and in ch-3 sp of next Shell, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook Shell Decrease (shl dec) - 2 dc in ch-3 sp of next Shell, dc dec, 2 dc in same ch sp as last half of dc dec Cluster (cl) - holding last loops of sts on hook, dc in each of next 3 sts, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook Treble Crochet Decrease (tr dec) - holding last loops of sts on hook, tr in each of next 2 ch sps, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook Picot (p) - ch 5, sc in 4th ch from hook, ch 1 . Note: Doily may ruffle somewhat until washed and blocked. . . With Natural, work Center #2. Fasten Off at end of Rnd 7, then continue as follows: . RND 8: join Burgundy with sc in any ch-7 lp, (ch 7, sc in next ch-7 lp) around, ch 2, dtr in top of first sc to join and form last ch-7 lp. (20 sc, 20 ch-7 lps) . RND 9: ch 3 (counts as first dc), (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in lp just made, *ch 2, (dc, ch 4, dc) in 4th ch of next ch-7 lp, ch 2**, shl in next ch-7 lp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (10 shl, 20 ch-2 sps, 20 dc, 10 ch-4 sps) . RND 13: beg shl, *ch 3, sk ch-3 sp, (sc in next p/a lp, ch 3), 6 times (5 p/a lps), sk ch-3 sp**, shl in shl*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (10 shl, 20 ch-3 sps, 50 p/a lps) . RND 14: beg shl inc, *ch 3, sk ch-3 sp, (sc in next p/a lp, ch 3), 5 times (4 p/a lps), sk ch-3 sp**, shl inc*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, 2 dc in same sp as beg shl inc, ch 3, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (10 shl inc, 20 ch-3 sps, 40 p/a lps) . NOTE: First p/a will be finished separately in Rows as follows: . ROW 15: beg shl, *ch 3, sk ch-3 sp, (sc in next p/a lp, ch 3), 4 times (3 p/a lps), sk ch-3 sp, shl in first ch-3 sp of next shl inc, ch 5, turn. (2 shl, 2 ch-3 sps, 3 p/a lps) . ROW 18: shl in shl, ch 2, sk ch-3 sp, tr in next p/a lp, ch 2, sk ch-3 sp, shl in shl, ch 5, turn. (2 shl, 2 ch-2 sps, 1 tr) . ROW 19: (shl in shl) 2 times, ch 5, turn. (2 shl) . ROW 20: shl dec, ch 5, turn. (1 shl dec) . ROW 21: sk first dc, cl, sk last dc, Fasten Off. (1 cl) . Finish Each Remaining p/a as for First p/a, beginning Row 15 with "join Burgundy with sc in next ch-3 sp of shl inc (see photo below), (ch 2, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp," then continue from * to end of Row 21. At end of last p/a, Do Not Fasten Off - continue with Rnd 22. .  RND 22: ch 10 (counts as first dc and 7 chs), *sc in next turning ch-5, (ch 7, sc in next turning ch-5) 2 times, dc in first dc of Row 15 on next p/a (see photo below), (ch 7, sc in next turning ch-5) 3 times**, (ch 4, dc in cl) 2 times, ch 7*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, ch 4, dc in cl, ch 4, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-10. Fasten Off Burgundy. (20 ch-4 lps, 30 dc, 60 sc, 60 ch-7 lps) .  RND 23: join Natural with sc in first ch-4 lp at top of any p/a, *sc in next dc, sc in next ch-4 lp, ch 7, sc in next ch-7 lp, ch 7, dc in next ch-7 lp, ch 7, tr dec, ch 7, dc in next ch-7 lp, ch 7, sc in next ch-7 lp**, ch 7, sc in next ch-4 lp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, ch 3, tr in top of first sc to join and form last lp. (10 tr dec, 20 dc, 50 sc, 60 ch-7 lps) . RND 26: repeat Rnd 25. . RND 27: ch 1, sc in lp just made, ch 10, (sc in next ch-9 lp, ch 10) around, join with sl st in top of first sc. Fasten Off Natural. (50 ch-10 lps, 50 sc) . RND 28: join Forest Green with sc in any ch-10 lp, ch 10, (sc in next ch-10 lp, ch 10) around, join with sl st in top of first sc. (50 ch-10 lps, 50 sc) . RND 29: sl st in first 2 ch of next ch-10 lp, ch 1, 7 sc in same lp, *ch 3, (tr, ch 3) 4 times in next ch-10 lp**, 7 sc in next ch-10 lp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, join with sl st in top of first sc. (100 tr, 125 ch-3 sps, 175 sc) . RND 30: sl st in next 3 sc, ch 1, sc in same st as last sl st, *ch 3, sk next 3 sc and next ch-3 sp, (tr, p) 2 times in next tr, (tr in next tr, p) 2 times, (tr, p, tr) in next tr, ch 3, sk next ch-3 sp and next 3 sc**, sc in next sc*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, join with sl st in top of first sc.
