. March's Little Beauty Copyright © 2001 by James G. Davis Materials for March Doily: Size 10 cotton crochet thread - approx. 20 - 30 yds Aqua PLUS Materials as stated in pattern for Basic Center . Gauge: Same as for Basic Center . Finished Size: About 6¾" across at widest points after washing and blocking . Special Stitches for this Doily: In addition to Special Stitches for Basic Center Beginning Shell (beg shl) - sl st into ch sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp Shell (shl) - (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in sp indicated Shell in Shell (shl in shl) - work Shell in ch-3 sp of next Shell Picot (P) - ch 4, sl st in front loop and front vertical bar of st just made . . With Aqua, work Rnds 1 - 5 of Basic Center, then work Rnds 6 - 8. . RND 9: sl st into ch-5 lp, ch 1, (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc) in same lp and in each ch-5 lp around, join with sl st in top of first sc. (40 sc, 40 hdc, 60 dc) . RND 10: sl st in next 3 sts, ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 6, sk next 6 sts, sc in next st*, rep from * to * around, ch 6, sk last 6 sts, join with sl st in top of first sc. (20 sc, 20 ch-6 lps) . RND 11: beg shl, shl in each ch-6 lp around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (20 shls) . RND 12: sl st in next 2 sts, beg shl, ch 1, (shl in shl, ch 1) around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (20 shls, 20 ch-1 sps) . RND 13: sl st in next 2 sts, beg shl, ch 2, (shl in shl, ch 2) around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (20 shls, 20 ch-2 sps) . RND 14: sl st in next 2 sts, beg shl, ch 3, (shl in shl, ch 3) around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (20 shls, 20 ch-3 sps) . RND 15: sl st in next 2 sts and into ch-3 sp, (ch 1, sc) in same sp, *ch 4, 2 dc in ch-3 sp between shls, ch 4**, sc in ch-3 sp of next shl*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in top of first sc. Fasten Off White. (20 sc, 40 dc, 40 ch-4 sps) . RND 16: join Aqua with sc in any sc, *3 sc in next ch-4 sp, ch 2, 2 dc in next dc, P, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, 3 sc in next ch-4 sp**, sc in next sc*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in top of first sc.
