Thank You! :o) . November's Beauty Copyright © 2002, 2003 by James G. Davis Materials for November Doily: Size 10 cotton crochet thread - Approx. 34 yds Goldenrod, approx. 26 yds Pumpkin & approx. 80 yds Cappuccino (or desired colors); size 6 (1.8 mm) steel crochet hook (I used a Boye hook) OR Size Needed for Gauge (see Center #4 for Gauge) . Finished Size: About 12" across at widest points after washing and blocking . There are NO additional Special Stitches for this Doily!! :o) . Notes: If substituting colors, each motif requires approx. 8½ yds of thread for Rnds 1 - 4 and approx 7½ yds for Rnds 5 - 7 (16 yds Total per motif) Tie a short piece of contrasting thread on any stitch of First Motif to mark it as the Center Motif. . Ideas: Make all motifs through Rnd 4 first, then work remaining Rnds all at once - like an assembly line! Use a completely different color for the Center Motif only - for example: Ecru, Cream or Natural. . . First Motif: . With Goldenrod, work Center #4 through Rnd 4. Fasten Off. Begin Rnd 5 with "join Cappuccino with sc in ch-3 sp of any Y-st," and complete center pattern through Rnd 7. Fasten Off. . Second Motif: . Using Pumpkin in place of Goldenrod, work as for First Motif through Rnd 6. Begin Rnd 7 as before until 6 ch-5 lps are made, then join to Center Motif as follows: (replace center ch of next ch-5 lp with sc in corresponding lp of Center Motif) 3 times, then complete Rnd as usual. . Third through Sixth Motifs: . Alternating Goldenrod and Pumpkin, work motifs as before through Rnd 6. Begin Rnd 7 as for Second Motif, joining 3 lps to previous Motif making certain to leave 1 loop of previous Motif unworked between joinings (see photo below), ch 5, sc in next ch-5 lp of current Motif, sk next unworked lp on Center Motif, join in each of next 3 lps, then complete Rnd as usual. . ![]() Seventh Motif: . Work as for Third - Sixth Motifs, joining to Second Motif to correspond, then complete Rnd 7 as usual. Do Not Fasten Off. . Edging: sl st into ch-5 lp, ch 1, (3 sc, ch 3, 3 sc) in same lp and in each unworked ch-5 lp around entire doily, join with sl st in first sc. Fasten Off. Weave in ends. (234 sc, 78 ch-3 lps) . . Wash & Block Doily, pinning to shape as needed or desired. Feel Free to E-mail me with Comments or Questions about these patterns! :o) |
