Davis Materials for October Doily: Size 10 cotton crochet thread, approx. 55 yds Light Peach & approx. 80 yds Cream (or desired colors); size 6 (1.8 mm) steel crochet hook (I used a Boye hook) OR Size Needed for Gauge (see Center #1 for Gauge) . Finished Size: About 11½" across at widest points after washing and blocking . Special Stitches for this Doily: In addition to Special Stitches for Center Beginning Double Crochet Cluster (beg dcl) - ch 2, holding last loops of sts on hook, work dc in each of next 2 dc, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook Double Crochet Cluster (dcl) - holding last loops of sts on hook, work dc in each of next 3 dc, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook Shell (shl) - work (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in ch lp or sp indicated . Note: Doily will "ruffle" until washed and blocked . . With Light Peach, work Center #1 through Rnd 6, ending with "ch 8, join with sl st in top of first sc. Fasten Off." Begin Rnd 7 with "join Cream with sc in any ch-8 lp" and complete center pattern through Rnd 8, then continue as follows: . RND 9: sl st in next ch-5 lp, ch 1, 5 sc in same lp, *[sc, ch 1, (dc, ch 1) 3 times, sc] in next ch-5 lp, 5 sc in next ch-5 lp**, 5 sc in next ch-5 lp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, join with sl st in top of first sc. RND 10: sl st in next 2 sc, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 3 dc in same sc as last sl st, *ch 3, sk next 3 sc and next ch-1 sp, (sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 3) 2 times, sk next ch-1 sp and next 3 sc, 4 dc in next sc, ch 2, sk next 4 sc**, 4 dc in next sc*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (64 dc, 16 sc, 16 ch-3 sps, 8 ch-3 lps, 8 ch-2 sps) . RND 11: ch 3, dc in same st as joining, *dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 2, sk ch-3 sp, shl in next ch-3 lp, ch 2, sk ch-3 sp, 2 dc in next dc, dc in each of next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, sk ch-2 sp**, 2 dc in next dc*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at**, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3. (48 sc, 40 dc, 40 ch-4 sps, 32 ch-3 sps, 16 ch-2 sps) . RND 18: sl st into ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, *ch 3, sk next dc, 2 dc in next dc, ch 1, sk next 2 ch-2 sps, 2 dc in next dc, ch 3, sk next dc, (sc in next ch sp, ch 4) 6 times**, sc in next ch sp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in top of first sc. (56 sc, 48 ch-4 sps, 32 dc, 32 ch-3 sps, 8 ch-1 sps) . RND 19: sl st into ch-3 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, (ch 4, sc in next ch sp) around, ch 1, dc in top of first sc to join and form last ch-4 lp. (72 sc, 72 ch-4 lps) . RND 20: ch 1, sc in lp just made, ch 4, (sc in next ch-4 lp, ch 4) around, join with sl st in top of first sc. Fasten Off Cream. (72 sc, 72 ch-4 lps) . Note: Rnd 21 is worked "sideways" in rows and joined to Rnd 20 "as you go". (See photo below) . ![]() RND 21: join Light Peach with sc in any ch-4 lp, ch 13, dc in 8th ch from hook, dc in each of next 2 ch, *ch 3, sc in next ch-4 lp of Rnd 20, ch 3, turn, dc in each of next 3 dc, ch 7, turn, dc in each of next 3 dc*, rep from * to * around, ch 3, join with sl st in top of first sc, sl st in next 3 ch, turn, dc in each of next 3 dc. Fasten Off, leaving long tail for joining. With ending tail, whipstitch tops of last 3 dc to bottoms of first 3 dc. Weave in all ends. (72 sc, 72 ch-7 lps, 144 ch-3 sps) . .
