Davis Materials: Approx. 125 yds size 10 cotton crochet thread (DMC Cebelia in color #712 Cream used for sample); size 6 (1.8mm) steel hook (I used a Boye hook) OR Size Needed for Gauge . Gauge: RNDS 1 & 2 = about 1¼" across at widest points . Finished Size: About 9½" across at widest points after washing and blocking . Special Stitches: Beginning Treble Cluster (beg trcl) - ch 3, holding last loops of sts on hook, work 2 tr in same sp, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook Treble Cluster (trcl) - holding last loops of sts on hook, work 3 tr in sp indicated, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook Double Crochet Decrease (dc dec) - holding last loops of sts on hook, work dc in each of next 2 ch sps, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook Picot (p) - ch 3, sl st in front loop and front vertical bar of sc just made . Note: Doily may "ruffle" somewhat until completed and blocked . . Begin with ch 8, join with sl st in first ch to form ring. . RND 1: beg trcl, ch 4, (trcl in ring, ch 4) 7 times, join with sl st in top of beg trcl. (8 trcl, 8 ch-4 sps) . RND 2: sl st into ch-4 sp, ch 1, 5 sc in same sp, sk next trcl, *5 sc in next ch-4 sp, sk next trcl*, rep from * to * around, join with sl st in top of first sc. (40 sc) . RND 3: ch 5 (counts as first tr and 1 ch), *sk next sc, (tr, ch 2, tr) in next sc, ch 1, sk next sc**, tr in each of next 2 sc*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, tr in last sc, join with sl st in 4th ch of beg ch-5. (32 tr, 16 ch-1 sps, 8 ch-2 sps) . RND 4: ch 5 (counts as first tr and 1 ch), *sk ch-1 sp, tr in next tr, 3 tr in ch-2 sp, tr in next tr, ch 1, sk ch-1 sp**, tr in each of next 2 tr*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, tr in last tr, join with sl st in 4th ch of beg ch-5. (56 tr, 16 ch-1 sps) . RND 5: sl st into ch-1 sp, ch 1, sc in same sp, ch 4, *sk next 2 tr, sc in next tr, (ch 4, sk next 2 tr, sc in next ch-1 sp) 2 times*, rep from * to * around ending last rep with ch 1, dc in top of first sc to form last loop. (24 ch-4 lps, 24 sc) . RND 6: (sc, p, sc) in same lp, *ch 4, (sc, p, sc) in next ch-4 lp*, rep from * to * around ending with ch 1, dc in top of first sc to form last loop. (24 ch-4 lps, 24 p, 48 sc) . RND 7: beg trcl, ch 5, *trcl in next ch-4 lp, ch 5*, rep from * to * around, join with sl st in top of beg trcl. (24 ch-5 lps, 24 trcl) . (72 sc, 36 ch-5 lps, 12 dc dec) . RND 10: sl st in next ch and into ch-5 lp, ch 1, sc in same lp, *(ch 5, sc in next ch-5 lp) 2 times, ch 3, (tr, ch 1, tr) in next dc dec**, ch 3, sc in next ch-5 lp*, rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, ch 1, hdc in top of first sc to form last loop. (36 sc, 24 ch-5 lps, 24 ch-3 sps, 24 tr) . RND 11: sc in same lp, ch 5, *(sc in next ch-5 lp, ch 5) 2 times, (sc in next ch-3 sp, ch 5) 2 times*, rep from * to * around ending last rep with ch 1, tr in top of first sc to form last loop. (48 sc, 48 ch-5 lps) . RND 12: (sc, p, sc) in same lp, *ch 5, (sc, p, sc) in next ch-5 lp*, rep from * to * around ending with ch 1, tr in top of first sc to form last loop. (96 sc, 48 p, 48 ch-5 lps) . RND 13: Repeat Rnd 12. (96 sc, 48 p, 48 ch-5 lps) . RND 14: beg trcl, ch 5, *trcl in next ch-5 lp, ch 5*, rep from * to * around, join with sl st in top of beg trcl. (48 ch-5 lps, 48 trcl) . RND 15: sl st into ch-5 lp, beg trcl, ch 2, (trcl, ch 2) 3 times in same lp, sc in next ch-5 lp, ch 2, *(trcl, ch 2) 4 times in next ch-5 lp, sc in next ch-5 lp, ch 2*, rep from * to * around, join with sl st in top of beg trcl. (120 ch-2 sps, 96 trcl, 24 sc) . RND 16: ch 1, sc in same st as joining, *[(sc, p, sc) in next ch-2 sp, sc in next trcl) 3 times, sc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, sc in next ch-2 sp**, sc in next trcl* rep from * to * around ending last rep at **, join with sl st in top of first sc.
