My friend Bea (Crobeanie) and I always use this technique for finishing the last round of a granny-type square and we thought it would be nice to share it with all our online friends.  Originally, this tutorial was posted on the Pattern Paradise website, but that site no longer exists and we have both received many requests to post it somewhere.  So, we decided to put it here for you!  These are the original photos we took as a visual aid and we hope they will help you better understand this technique.  :o)

After completing final stitch of pattern, Do Not Join.  Remove hook and cut yarn, leaving a 4" - 6" tail.
Pull loop until tail comes through.  Thread tail onto tapestry needle.
Note:  From this point on, Be Careful Not to tug your work too tightly.
With Right Side facing, working from Back to Front, insert needle under both loops of first stitch of round (NOT the beginning chain).  Pull through.
Working into last stitch of round, insert needle from top, between back loop and front loop (through center top of stitch), then through front vertical bar.
Bring needle to back of work.
With Wrong Side facing, weave end securely through back of square.
.
When working with taller stitches (hdc, dc, etc.), work needle through back of post of beginning chain, then weave in as above.
Can You find the joining???
