Loopy Flower Coaster

I think the Variation helps emphasize the center "flower".  This is a Very
quick and easy coaster that's sure to please crocheters of ALL skill levels!

Materials:
Small amount 100% cotton worsted weight yarn (Peaches & Creme in White and Cream was used in samples); size G aluminum crochet hook (I used a Boye hook) OR Size Needed for Gauge.

Gauge:
RND 1 = about 1" across

Finished Size:
About 4" across

NOTES:
One 2 to 2½ oz ball should make several coasters
May "ruffle" somewhat until Rnd 4 is complete

Begin with ch 5, sl st in first ch to form ring.

RND 1: ch 1, 12 sc in ring, join with sl st in first sc.  (12 sc)

RND 2: ch 1, sc in same st, (ch 3, sc in next st) around, ch 1, join with hdc in first sc (forms first loop for next Rnd).  (12 sc, 12 ch-3 lps)

RND 3: ch 1, sc in same lp, (ch 3, sc in next lp) around, ch 1, join with hdc in first sc.  (12 sc, 12 ch-3 lps)

Note: For 2-color version, end Rnd 3 with "ch 3, join with sl st in first sc.  Fasten Off."  Then begin Rnd 4 with "join next color with sc in any ch-3 lp".

RND 4: Rep Rnd 3, ending with ch 3, join with sl st in first sc.  (12 sc, 12 ch-3 lps)

RND 5: sl st into next ch-3 lp, ch 3, 3 dc in same lp, (4 dc in next ch-3 lp) around, join with sl st in top of beg ch-3.  (48 dc)  Fasten Off.  Weave in ends.
